Heather’s goal is to help others achieve a high degree of success and avoid the fate that sometimes befalls dogs which are deemed difficult or too challenging to manage. Heather’s passion is to offer unique obedience training to dogs and their owners. With the right knowledge and tools everyone deserves a well-trained and behaved family pet and here’s why…

Since early childhood, Heather has had a passion for all animals. She spent her childhood amongst cats, dogs and horses learning what it takes to care for and guide animals. This early notion and study of animal behavior has become the foundation of her current day interests in analyzing and training dog behavior.

Heather completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from the St. Xavier University in Nova Scotia. She then continued her professional career in public opinion research and public consultation. Through her career choices and continuous learning, Heather has acquired knowledge in people management and behaviors. Her passion for animal behavior combined with her skills in people management have provided valuable skills and years of experience that rounds out her expertise in professional dog training.

More recently, Heather and family acquired two new puppies. One of her pack members started to exhibit aggressive behavior towards strangers and as a result, Heather found herself in a situation for which she was not prepared. Although the puppy was well socialized and had previous types of training, something more was required to correct the aggressive tendencies. After extensive research, Heather decided to engage the services of the Canadian Canine Training Academy to assist in correcting these behavioral problems. After one week in the basic obedience program, Heather experienced measureable results with her dog. The incredible experience reignited her interest in dog behavior and training. With this success, and her overall lifelong passion for dogs, Heather decided to enroll in the Canadian Canine Training Academy professional dog trainer program so that she could help others with their dog training challenges in order to avoid the sometimes dire consequents of undesirable behaviors.

The purpose of the evaluation is for us to determine what the cause of your dog's behaviour is, so we can make recommendations on what needs to be done to help you meet your training goals. Because all dogs are not the same, their problems and causes for problems will vary, and so will the treatment, depending on the nature of the dog's behaviour. All dogs are evaluated prior to training to ensure you get the best results possible. This process is quite simple. First click on the Free Training Evaluation and submit the information required. The trainer will review the information to get a good idea of your case.  The trainer will then contact you to make an appointment to meet with you and your dog. When the trainer has evaluated your dog's temperament, you will be provided with a signed copy of your evaluation, complete with comments and recommendations for training.
